Beginning March 12 face masks in schools will no longer be required

As a follow-up to our , face masks will no longer be required at schools (or on school buses) effective Saturday, March 12, 2022. We understand and respect that there are differing perspectives regarding mask wearing. We remain committed to fostering supportive school environments where we respect individual choice for those who choose to continue wearing masks and those who choose not to wear masks. We ask that you also respect and support personal choice, and treat each other with kindness. Newport-Mesa Unified School District will continue to follow the California Department of Public Health guidelines, with the following still in place: Personal protective equipment remains available upon request Enhanced ventilation Enhanced cleaning Contact tracing Let’s all do our part to continue to keep each other and our students safe: Monitor for symptoms Remain home when sick Take a COVID-19 test if exhibiting symptoms and/or if have been exposed to COVID-19 Practice hand washing etiquette Thank you for your continued partnership and support these past two years as we’ve navigated the impacts of this pandemic that have allowed us to provide in-person instruction throughout most of this time.
