High School Credit Completion

6/12/2020 As you are aware, our District developed a plan, with the support and recommendation of the Credit Completion Committee, to support students who receive an incomplete mark at the end of semester two grading period. You should have been notified by your teacher if your student was in danger of obtaining an “incomplete”. Students have been encouraged to work with teachers to do all that they can to pass their classes. Final notifications of students that receive an “incomplete” will be sent to parents the week of June 22. In preparation for summer credit completion opportunities for students who received an “incomplete” mark, we would like to provide you with the following frequently asked questions. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Which classes will be available during the summer/fall? All students with Incompletes will be provided the opportunity to remediate an incomplete in Math, English, Science and History/Social Science and a variety of electives. Will the classes be online or in-person? At this time, the class will be online. While we acknowledge the challenge this has posed for students in the past, this is the scenario we are able to plan on due to the social distancing requirements. How will students be able to address incompletes from the end of semester two grading period during the summer and fall? Students with incompletes are expected to attend summer and fall classes to remediate their incomplete mark. There are two approaches for the summer: Group 1 will be students who are close to earning a passing grade and their teachers believe they can remediate the incomplete with additional tutoring. Group 2 are students who still need to learn important concepts and significant portions of the curriculum. During the fall, students who have not completed the work during the summer, will be provided an opportunity to attend tutorial classes to assist in completing their schoolwork before the October 2, 2020 deadline (per Board Policy). When will the High School credit completion classes be offered? The classes specifically for high school credit completion are planned to be offered during two week sessions in the summer: Group 1: July 6-17 Group 2: July 20-31 Please contact your student’s teacher or school principal with questions. Otherwise, your child’s school will be in touch with additional information should your student be referred for credit completion.
