Monte Vista Secondary School Inquiry Session

Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s (NMUSD) 7-12 independent study school, Monte Vista Secondary School, is in the process of gathering interest in enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year. Monte Vista is an accredited school for students in grades 7-12. Students in this model complete coursework at home and attend in-person one day per week at Presidio Learning Center (1001 Presidio Square) to meet with their supervising teacher who oversees their independent study course work. Students also take tests on site, proctored by a certificated teacher. Students have daily opportunities for support in the core content areas of math, science, social studies, world languages, and English-language arts. Monte Vista offers: Quality coursework using NMUSD-approved curriculum and a supervising teacher who oversees the student’s progress and grades. Daily opportunity for content support in math, science, social studies,English-language arts, and world languages with certificated teachers. Increased flexibility with time, location, and pace of instruction. All courses required for both middle schools and high school graduation requirements. Access to a variety of electives, ROP courses, CTE courses, and Dual Enrollment classes with local community colleges.
