Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) students participated in first-ever virtual student leadership series, and three students ranked in the top 10 for their participation. The five-week program focused on various aspects of leadership, and tools and skills needed for successful career pathways. students Leiani D., Kaitlyn M. and Giselle C. ranked out of approximately 1,400 students in Orange County, including about 40 Newport-Mesa students. The top 10 students were recognized for their overall score on the successful completion of assignments and participation in various activities including: Networking opportunities with industry representatives from seven industry sectors: automotive; engineering and advanced manufacturing; medical, biotechnology and medical devices; arts, media and entertainment; business, finance and marketing; culinary, retail and hospitality; and information communication technologies Information regarding Orange County Community Colleges certificate programs Leadership focused workshops and reflections Peer to peer engagement Live webinars with industry professionals to gain an understanding of the requirements in developing leadership skills in their specific career paths “We are thrilled that our students excelled in the leadership series!” said Director of College and Career Michael Vossen. “We are grateful for our strong partnership with Vital Link OC for empowering us to continue offering CTE opportunities throughout Distance Learning,” he said.
