Newport-Mesa Launches an Online Mental Health and Wellness Resource Platform

Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) fosters a culture that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of staff, students and parents, which is more important now than ever before. NMUSD has compiled a list of community resources that are available on the . These resources connect people with local wellness services specific to their particular needs such as: Food, clothing, and housing Social emotional and behavioral wellness Meal Services After school childcare and enrichment In an effort to strengthen our commitment to supporting staff, students and families, NMUSD launched a wellness resource platform, Care Solace , an online resource with a live 24/7 support to assist individuals in finding local mental health related programs and counseling services. Care Solace services are available via the . After responding to ten non-identifying, confidential questions related to your needs, you will be provided with a list of referrals to applicable care providers. Care Solace is also available (in multiple languages) 24 hours a day via phone at 888-515-0595. There are multiple private insurance companies, as well as Medi-Cal, Medicaid, and Medicare, that are taken into account when generating a list of referrals. The partnership with Care Solace compliments the continuum of services that NMUSD provides to meet the needs of our school community. In addition to Care Solace , NMUSD offers a variety of programs and supports for staff and students in particular. In recent years we have hired additional psychologists, counselors, nurses, school community facilitators, social emotional and behavioral specialists, autism specialists, and social workers to help support students across our 32 schools. “Looking for innovative and cost effective ways to support the mental health and wellness needs of all our students and families, regardless of location, social status or income, is a charge we take seriously every single day. Our new partnership with Care Solace is one of many ways all our students and families can get the help they need to deal with issues like anxiety, depression and substance abuse,” stated Dr. Phil D’Agostino, Director of Student Services.
