COSTA MESA AND NEWPORT BEACH REMAIN BELOW THE COUNTY COVID-19 AVERAGES The cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach continue to decrease and remain well below the county averages on both new COVID-19 case rate (per 100,000 population) and positivity rate measures. For Costa Mesa the new case and positivity rates are 1.73 and 1.2% and for Newport Beach .82 and .80%. However, with this encouraging news we must remain vigilant in continuing to follow health and safety measures and take COVID-19 tests when needed (accessible through your healthcare provider or county test sites – ). Through our collective efforts, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach have continued to trend in the right direction and remain at lower than county average levels. PREPARATIONS FOR HYBRID IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION As communicated in previous updates, our school and District staff continue to implement layers of health and safety procedures for students and staff to transition to Hybrid In-Person Instruction. Schools will be finalizing these new protocols and adding visual reminders throughout the campus to promote social distancing, directional patterns on campus, and healthy hygiene. Hand sanitizers will be available and face masks will be provided if needed. Principals are continuing to meet, train and prepare staff regarding the new procedures and expectations. Principals will communicate specific school procedures to parents prior to the first day back on campus. We ask that you help us in supporting students during this transition, as school will look different this year. We are excited to welcome students back on campus and thank you for your shared commitment to safety and quality education. Please visit the for more information.
